NEW DELHI: Controversy over the 2025 Asia Cup Final Cup has been intensified, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi rejecting a report that he has apologized to the Control Board for Cricket in India (Bcci). Naqvi hit the Indian media, accusing him of spreading “designed propaganda”.“Indian media is thriving, not a fact.
“This doesn’t make sense that it’s cheap, which is just to confuse their own people. Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into the cricket, damaging the spirit of the game.”Naqvi further maintained that he was ready to hold a show at the final night in Dubai.“As President of the ACC, I’m ready to hand over the trophy that day and I’m still ready now. If they really want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me,” he said.As reported by Timesofindia.com on Tuesday, ACC members met in Dubai, with BCCI representatives Rajeev Shukla (Vice President) and Ashish Shelar (former Treasurer) present. During the meeting, Naqvi continued to “defeat the bush” and did not commit to hand over the Asian Cup or the winner’s medal to India. It is understood that he did not acknowledge India’s success in his opening speech and only congratulated the team after Shelar intervened.The line began on September 28, as India defeated Pakistan to win the Ninth Asia Cup title. During the post -match ceremony, Indian players refused to receive a trophy and a medal from Naqvi, citing a tense geopolitical relationship. They instead demanded that the performance be conducted by the Vice Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board, Naqvi’s request was rejected.When the postponed ceremony finally began, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, and Varma Tilak collected their awards from other respects. However, when Naqvi stepped onto the stage, the Indian team explained that they would not receive a trophy from it. A few moments later, the trophy was quietly removed from the place, leaving the champion without their gift.
