Sameer Wankhede has taken legal action against the manufacturers of ‘The Ba *** DS of Bollywood’, accused them of hurting his reputation and spreading misleading impressions about him. On Wednesday, Supreme Court of Delhi issued messages to all defendants in the case and led them to respond to the charges.
Delhi High Court issues defended to the accused
As reported by PTI, Justice Purushaintra Kumar Kaurav issued a call to all defendants, Gauri Khan-owned Red Chillies Entertainment Private, Netflix, X Corp (formerly Twitter), Google LL, Meta platforms, RPSG Lifestyle, and John DOE. The Court has asked them to submit their responses within seven days.The Court also led the defendants to submit their responses to Wankhede’s request to take down the alleged defamatory content from various websites. However, the Court did not approve of any interruption decision at this stage.The case has been listed for further hearing on October 30.
Sameer Wankhede raises concern over the family trolling
As reported by Livelaw, pronounced senior lawyer Sandeep Sethi, who shows up for Wankhede, “With reference to the series, there are posts that troll me, my wife and my sister. Ex facie defamatory. It is shocking. They (defendants) certainly do not defend these posts.”The court, while we answered orally, said: “We appreciate that there is a cause for your advantage to approach this court but there is a process to be followed.” After this observation, the court issued the lawsuit.
Sameer Wankhede seeks damages for claims
According to PTI, Wankhede has applied for RS 2 crore in damages, which he intends to donate to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for cancer patients. The foundation stated: “This series disseminates a misleading and negative depiction of anti-drug control authorities and thus erodes public confidence in law enforcement institutions.”It further added that the series was “deliberately conceptualized and implemented with the intention of malignant Wankhede’s reputation in a colorful and harmful manner.”The foundation also mentioned that this was done in spite of the case involving the official and Shah Rukh Khans son Aryan Khan Being still going on at Bombay High Court and NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.
